If you recently got a new tattoo, there are some things that you may not know about which can ruin the new ink before it even heals! In order to keep them looking great, Bustle says that there are some things to avoid doing so that you don't ruin your new tattoo.

  • Swimming in a pool with a new tattoo can spell trouble because the exposure to water may draw the ink out of your skin. It's also a healing wound, so the dirt and bacteria in the swimming pool could cause an infection.
  • Going outside without SPF because the sun's rays could discolor your tattoo as it's healing. Try to avoid any sunburn for at least three to four weeks after getting your new ink done, and cover it up whenever you do have to go out into the sun.
  • Shaving over your tattoo is something you probably didn't think about! But if you got a tattoo on your leg, or somewhere else where you like to keep shaved, you have to avoid shaving over your tattoo while it heals (two to four weeks).

When a tattoo isn't properly cared for after you first get it, it can result in a blurry or faded design. No one wants a new tattoo that looks ten years old already!
