Caitlyn Jenner Continues To Hammer Trump on LGBTQ Policy, Remains a Republican
Caitlyn Jenner isn't backing down from President Donald Trump, and is continuing to chide him for regressive views on the LGBTQ community. Still, Jenner insists she's bent on remaining a Republican, and said it would be easier to shift the views of the far right than the views on the far left.
In an interview with Tucker Carlson Tonight last night (April 24), Jenner said Trump has "kind of disappointed me in the first hundred days" as President, and while he initially "looked like he would be pretty good on all LGBT issues," scaling back protections for trans kids in February was unforgivable.
"There’s a lot of issues out there for our community that I’m fighting for and I want the Republican Party to do a better job," she said.
Still, Jenner said she's planting her feet in conservatism, and noted she would never switch parties for a single issue.
"I would rather convince the Republican Party to do a better job when it comes to all LGBT issues than to try to convince the Democrats to lower taxes and lower regulations and let our country thrive economically," she said.
Oh, and Jenner made sure to let Carlson have it for derogatory comments he made about the trans community during a February interview with Transgender Legal Defense and Education Fund Executive Director Jillian Weiss.
"You made a statement ‘Oh a guy of 35, all of the sudden…Oh hey, I’m trans. I’m going to go be a woman now and I’ll get federal funds for women’s issues,’" she said. "That’s bulls---. That does not happen. You are basically born this way. I’ve been dealing with these issues since I was this big. It’s not just a whim."
