Break-Up With Someone Respectfully
The song "Breaking Up Is Hard To Do" is such a popular song even decades later, and there's a good reason for it. No one likes breaking up with someone, or being the one getting broken up with. As hard as it may be, Bustle has a few tips to make breaking up with someone respectfully.
- Give it the gravity that it deserves whether you were dating this person for four months or four years, a break-up is a big deal and should be treated as such. Don't text or e-mail them to tell them that you're breaking up with them!
- Be honest about why you want to break up with this person. This will allow you two to have an open and honest conversation about what is happening, and can maybe begin to let this person grow and move on from this relationship.
- Don't do it publicly because you will only look like a jerk if you do. Your partner is going to be emotional, so have this conversation with them in a place where they can express their feelings if they need to.
No one likes to be on the receiving end of a break-up, but if you do it respectfully then maybe they can start to heal sooner than if you had merely sent them a text message.
