The study states that the concept of "beer goggles" is real, but sexual arousal does not change with alcohol consumption, as is a common misconception.

Those under the influence are more likely to look at sexually explicit photos, and lose their inhibitions when it comes to sexual engagements because of their alcohol consumption, and that drinking beer makes a person happier, even if it's just temporarily.

The lead researcher, Professor Matthias Liechti says, "These effects of alcohol on social cognition likely enhance sociability."
