The Binghamton Bearcats begin the search for a new Head Women's Basketball Coach.  Linda Cimino resigned today (Friday) and announced that she has accepted a similar position with St. Francis College of Brooklyn.  Cimino had been at Binghamton University for four seasons.  This past season her Bearcats went 20-12 and earned the program's first Division I national postseason berth.  Binghamton advanced to the Women's Basketball Invitational quarterfinals.  The overall victory total was the first time in Division I competition that the Bearcats won 20 games.  She was named America East Coach of the Year in 2016.

Cimino has close ties to the New York metropolitan area and came to Binghamton University from Caldwell University in Caldwell, New Jersey where she served as head coach for eight seasons.

At an afternoon press conference on the Binghamton campus Coach Cimino said her final decision and subsequent resignation was made this (Friday) morning.  Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott said a nationwide search for a new head women's basketball coach begins immediately.
