The break-in was reported early Friday morning after a broken window was discovered at United Presbyterian Church of Binghamton at 42 Chenango Street.

Detective Lieutenant Corey Minor said the burglary is believed to have happened during the overnight hours. He said some items were taken, although he provided no information regarding what had been reported missing.

Some damage was reported in the basement section of the church building. The pastor did not return a call seeking comment and church employees declined to discuss the nature of the damage.

A truck from Disaster Clean-Up in Endwell was at the church on Friday afternoon.

Minor said people with information about the burglary may contact the police detective division at 607.772.7080.
