Demolition crews are clearing another section of Corliss Avenue in Johnson City for use by Binghamton University.

Abandoned buildings north of the recently-opened Pharmacy School complex are being removed.

One of the buildings that's been taken town had stood at the corner of Corliss Avenue and Broad Street. For nearly three decades, it had housed The Pharmacy store before the business moved to Westover.

The properties that are being cleared are to be used for pharmacy school parking. They may be utilized for other purposes in the future.

A former Endicott Johnson Company factory on Corliss Avenue is being renovated for use as the home of Binghamton University's Nursing School.

A $15 million research and development building also is to be constructed on the street. That facility will rise between the pharmacy and nursing school buildings.
