Broome County Executive Jason Garnar sent a Valentine's Day "love letter" to Amazon chief Jeff Bezos,

It was Garnar's second note in a week urging the world's richest man to visit the county and consider locating the company's new headquarters project in the Binghamton area.

The new message came shortly after Amazon abandoned plans to develop the operation in Queens following opposition by some elected officials.

In Thursday's letter, Garnar wrote: "We would welcome you with open arms."

Garnar advised Bezos that while downstate "says no to opportunity" that's not the case with upstate New York. He said the region says "YES and Broome County is ready to call Amazon home."

The county executive's note concluded: "I will be anxiously awaiting your call."

It appears Garnar's pleas to Bezos won't have any effect. Amazon indicated it won't be choosing an alternate site to the Long Island City location it had been considering.
