Today is Valentine's Day and new surveys have just surfaced about the holiday that you might find pretty interesting.

For example, according to the National Retail Federation, only 51% of Americans will celebrate Valentine's Day. Even though that number is down from last year, the people that are celebrating are going to spend on average $162 on the holiday. That's up 13% from last year.

According to the PR Newswire, on average men spend twice as much as women do when it comes to Valentine's Day.

Unilad surveyed 2,000 men and women and found that men think a drink, a dinner out and sex makes a great Valentine's Day.  Where women, on the other hand, prefer dinner out and a bottle of wine. Having sex finished fourth on their list.

According to National Today, 13% of people love Valentine's Day and regard it as the best holiday of the entire year. They also reported that 5% of people say it's the most depressing holiday of the entire year.

And YouGov released the results of a survey where they asked Americans if they have ever ended a relationship on Valentine's Day. 7% said they have ended it on the big day. Another 5% admitted that they ended a relationship shortly after Valentine's Day.

And finally, The Mirror asked people to name the top cheesy gifts they do not want for Valentine's Day. Topping that list was pink furry handcuffs. I guess I should take those back. I'm glad I saved the receipt.
