Why Is The Oreo Cookie Still So Popular
On Saturday, March 6th, we will celebrate the birthday of the Oreo cookie. On March, 6th, 1912, two decoratively embossed chocolate-flavored wafers met up with a rich creme filling and our world would never be the same...for that, I will be eternally grateful.
Why the Oreo cookie is still popular today
So 109 years later, why is the Oreo cookie still so popular? The obvious answer is because of the taste. Nothing tastes better than dunking an Oreo cookie into a frozen mug of milk. It stays in one piece unless I forget that I'm dunking it and leave it in the milk too long but that's my fault, not Oreo's.
I think it's because of marketing. Oreo decided a few years back to come up with random flavors and their idea is paying off. Think about this, what happens when Oreo comes out with a new flavor? We talk about it and it brings the cookie back to the top of our minds.
It's free advertising for them because we talk about it and in this case, I'm writing about it. Other cookie companies have tried to copy it but if you were blindfolded and asked to pick the Oreo cookie, it's an easy (and tasty) test to take.
Different Oreo flavors
Oreo has released over 85 different flavors in the last few years. They noticed that the new flavor sells well and that the sale of their regular Oreos jump as well. This reminds us about how much we love Oreo cookies.
My daughter, Tara LOVES the Lady Gaga Oreo pinkish cookie with green filling. I was going to take a picture of it to share but the cookies didn't stay around long enough. What's your favorite flavored cookie?
