I have to admit that the last couple of seasons of American Idol were not something that I watched a lot. But, for the first 8 or 9 seasons I watched the show religiously. I always thought that the show was great but frustrating at the same time. It was very irritating to see one of my favorite singers being voted off the show. Maybe that's what made the show great.

"American Idol" is ending its 15-season run with a three-night finale this week.  As part of the fanfare, they're celebrating the previous seasons . . . especially the first seven or eight, when the show was at its peak.  Back then, you didn't even need to win the show to launch a career off it, and several contestants did that.

Here's a list of the 16 best LOSERS in "Idol" history:

1.  Jennifer Hudson, who finished in seventh place on Season 3

2.  Adam Lambert, who was the runner-up on Season 8

3.  Chris Daughtry, who finished in fourth place on Season 5

4.  Clay Aiken, who was the runner-up on Season 2

5.  Katharine McPhee, who was the runner-up on Season 5

6.  David Archuleta, who was the runner-up on Season 7

7.  Kellie Pickler, who finished in fifth place on Season 5

8.  Tori Kelly, who was cut in the Hollywood rounds on Season 9

9.  Constantine Maroulis, who finished in sixth place on Season 4

10.  Todrick Hall, who finished in the Top 16 on Season 9

11.  Lauren Alaina, who was the runner-up on Season 10

12.  Diana DeGarmo, who was the runner-up on Season 3

13.  Ace Young, who finished in seventh place on Season 5

14.  Haley Reinhart, who finished in third place on Season 10

15.  Jessica Sanchez, who was the runner-up on Season 11

16.  Alan Ritchson, who was cut in the Hollywood rounds on Season 3.  His audition was basically him serenading Paula Abdul, who thought he was HOT.  Instead of a singing career, he became an actor.

He played Aquaman on "Smallville" and Thad Castle on "Blue Mountain State".  He's also appeared in "Hunger Games: Catching Fire", and he was Raphael in the new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie. (RollingStone.com)
