Where Do We Get Our Movie Fix Now?
This Covid-19 thing can end anytime now. As you know, it's done so much damage including lives lost, loss of jobs, businesses closing, and the list goes on.
Now I hear, one of the major cinemas is temporarily closing all their theatres beginning Thursday. Cineworld apparently is suspending operations of it's Regal theatres in the United States. Our local Regal and AMC theatres are temporarily closed.
It's understandable given the fact that they need movies to survive, and there aren't enough right now to make it profitable. Our local Cinema Saver is doing their best offering refreshments for sale and private parties.
So, what do we movie lovers do in the meantime? Well, drive-in theatres are the first thing that come to mind, but that season is over, so that suggestion is out the window. There are plenty of online and cable channel choices for movies, but if you are like me, over these past few months of Covid-19, you've probably already seen most of them. Well, at least the ones that are worthy of watching all the way through.
I don't have a problem watching movies over and over again that I really like, much to the dismay of some of my family and friends. What's the big deal? I get the usual "You know the ending will still be the same" type of comment. Well, you never know. One can hope sometimes.
I know some people who are taking watching movies at home to a new level. They are buying inexpensive movie projectors. Some are watching on a screen or projecting the movie on a wall. It's not the same as being in a theatre, but it works. And you can pause it whenever you want to go for a beer and food run, or a bathroom break without interruption. Can't do that in a movie theater, can you?
Just a reminder, the Rocky Horror Picture Show will be shown on Friday October 23rd at the Greater Binghamton Sports Complex. For more information and to purchase tickets, click on that blue button below.
