Vestal Man Admits to Sex Acts with Young Boy Over Several Years
A Broome County man is expected to be sentenced to state prison after he admitted to repeatedly engaging in sexual activity with a boy under the age of eleven.
Authorities say 62-year-old James Sullivan Jr. of Vestal pleaded guilty in Broome County Court on Monday to felony counts of first-degree criminal sexual act and first-degree sexual abuse.
According to the county district attorney's office, Sullivan admitted engaging in sexual conduct with a young boy on multiple occasions between 2010 and 2016.
Under a plea deal, Sullivan is to be sentenced to seven years in prison followed by ten years post-release supervision. Sentencing has been scheduled for October 17.
The allegations against Sullivan were investigated by Vestal police and New York State Police.
In a news release, District Attorney Michael Korchak said Sullivan "accepted responsibility for his perverted crimes, and the victim was spared the trauma of having to testify in court."
