Union-Endicott Grad Appointed Commander of State Police Troop C
A 27-year New York State Police veteran is the new commander of the agency's Troop C, which encompasses seven counties in the Binghamton region.
Major Jeffrey VanAuken's appointment took effect last Thursday. Troop C is based in Sidney.
VanAuken succeeds the retiring Major Todd Stratton as commander.
VanAuken is a 1986 graduate of Union-Endicott High School. His first assignment as a state trooper was in Endwell.
Over the years, VanAuken has spent much of his state police career in Troop C with various assignments in Owego, Ithaca and Kirkwood. He served as Binghamton zone commander since October 2017.
Troop C covers, Broome, Tioga, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego and Tompkins counties.
