Broome Wants to Double COVID Shots Given at BCC
Broome County is ramping up its operations for administering more COVID-19 vaccines in the next few weeks. The County has added clinics for April 7, 9 and 12, announcing at 3 p.m. March 31 that it had 1,000 appointments. As of 5 a.m. April 1, 324 of those appointments had already been taken.
Appointments can be reserved at gobroomecounty.com.
During the weekly COVID briefing March 31, County Health officials said they expected the number of doses being sent to the county to continue to increase. 1,170 of Pfizer vaccines are now being given typically in a week, and the county says it wants to double that number at the mass vaccination site at the SUNY Broome Ice Center. Over the past week, Broome County has been hiring part-time workers to help with checking people in to the POD and entering data.
Cortland County is also announcing a COVID-19 vaccination clinic. The Cortland County Health Department announced it had hundreds of appointments available for April 1 for residents at mass-vaccination clinic that is being held from 11 to 4 at SUNY Cortland.
