The Watch area includes in central New York: Broome, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Otsego, Sullivan, and Tioga counties. In northeast Pennsylvania the watch area includes, Bradford, Wayne and Susquehanna counties.

A storm system will impact the region through overnight December 21 resulting in a widespread rainfall of 1 to 2 inches. Locally higher amounts, up to 3 inches are possible along the east facing slopes of the Poconos and Catskills.

The wet soil conditions and this amount of rainfall could result in minor flooding along the Susquehanna and Delaware River basins along with roadways and poor drainage areas.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
