The blood drive is taking place from noon to 6 p.m. December 27 at the fire department at 16 Crescent Drive in Kirkwood.

The need for blood is especially great during the holiday and the annual memorial blood drive serves as a way to honor Trooper Skinner’s life that was dedicated to serving his community before he was killed in the line of duty in May of 2014.

Skinner was run down by a Florida man driving a pickup truck while making a traffic stop on Interstate 81 between Hinman’s Corners and Castle Creek.

People wishing to donate blood can make an appointment by downloading the Blood Donor App., by calling 1-800-RED CROSS or visit redcrossblood.org.
