Thanksgiving is the holiday where we all look around and think about what we're thankful for. And pets should always be included when you reflect on all of the good things in your life. So when you invite friends and family over for the holiday meal, remember to make sure that Fido is safe with all of the festivities going on.

  • Talk to your guests before they arrive so they are aware that your pets will be there at Thanksgiving (and to make sure that no one feeds them table scraps!). You also want to make sure your guests don't leave doors open where Rover can sneak out.
  • Be cautious of counters as you don't want any of your pets to jump up and get any of the food, or touch anything that's hot and could hurt them. It might be a good idea to put someone in charge of playing and distracting your pets in another room while you finish up cooking.
  • Don't forget to clean up if you have a mischievous pet, you will want to take out the trash as soon as dinner is over because they can dig in the trash for any leftovers, and animal bones can be very dangerous for pets to chew on.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, and my pets are my family, so we want everyone to be safe, happy, and healthy.
