Welcome to the holiday season. Hopefully your Thanksgiving was a good one, albeit probably a bit different from previous years due to Covid-19.

I'm guessing that more gifts will be mailed this year because of safety precautions meaning many may not be heading home for the holidays. And that includes me. It will be the first time that I can remember that I will not be heading home to Western New York to spend a few hours with my mom and siblings to celebrate Christmas.

I don't recall ever mailing gifts through the mail during the holidays, but this year I certainly will. And I imagine just how many more people will go that route this season. One of my brothers works for the United State Postal Service, and he has mentioned just how busy this time of the year is for him and his co-workers.

So, I thought it might be a good idea to give you a heads up as to what the latest you should send out holiday packages to arrive before Christmas.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) recommends mailing those packages no later than December 15th for retail ground service, December 18th for first class,  December 19th for priority mail and December 23rd for priority mail express.

If you use the United Parcel Service (UPS) get those packages in the mail by December 15th for ground service, December 21st for three day select, December 22nd for 2nd day air and December 23rd for next day air.

Using Fed Ex, it's December 9th for smart post, December 15th for home delivery and Fed Ex ground, December 21st for express saver and three day freight, December 22nd for two day service among other services. Fed Ex also offers many other last minute options on the Fed Ex website.

Sending via Amazon? Check their website for compete details. Check all delivery options websites for complete information and restrictions. Don't wait or procrastinate like I sometimes do. Get those packages out in time for the holidays and everyone will be happy. In theory anyway.
