A Broome County fire department is moving forward with a long-awaited project to construct an addition to its existing station.

Broome County residents who have always wanted to own a fire station now have that opportunity.

After several years of debate and discussion, a newly-constructed Vestal Fire Department station has gone into operation.

Crews are busy working on interior details at the $7.5 million complex being built for the Vestal Fire Department near the Parkway Plaza.
