Just about anyone (except the severely kitchen challenged) can whip up a pot of pasta but not everyone can perfect it and make it taste so delicious that it catches the eyes of one of the most recognized names in the food industry.

Some people claim that the Clinton House in Clinton, New York, invented chicken riggies while others swear that it was the Chesterfield Restaurant in Utica where the dish was born. No matter where this Central New York favorite was created, one thing is sure – we love the dish and can’t get enough of it.

Chicken riggies is a past dish that typically consists of chicken, rigatoni, and hot or sweet peppers in a spicy cream and tomato sauce. Sometimes mushrooms or black olives are added to the dish.

Earlier this year, Food Network released its list of the top 98 pasta dishes in all of the United States and landing on the list is one Central New York Restaurant.

Coming in at number 26 on Food Network’s list of best places for a plate of pasta is Pastabilities which is located in the quaint Armory Square in Syracuse. Pastabilities was recognized by Food Network for its chicken riggies dish.

While many Central New York restaurants serve up their own version of chicken and riggies, Food Network pointed out that when Guy Fieri visited Syracuse as part of his 2016 show Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives, it was Pastibilities he visited for its Wicky-Wicky Chicken Riggies served with scallions and freshly grated cheese.

Clearly, the chicken riggies at Pastabilities left a positive impression for the restaurant’s dish to be named among the best of the best!
