The Susquehanna Valley Sabers are riding high heading into Friday night's high school football battle at Maine-Endwell.  The Sabers clobbered Chenango Valley last weekend on the road 42-0.  SV led 22-0 at the half.  The Spartans struggled on offense and fell to the Chenango Forks Blue Devils at M-E 21-0 on Saturday night.

In last season's meeting the Spartans prevailed with a 26-6 victory.  SV looked impressive on both sides of the football at CV.  The defense yielded just 89 yards while offensively Susquehanna Valley showcased several bona fide weapons.  Quarterback Jarred Freije tossed three touchdown passes and ran for another.  Josh Ruddock keyed a solid ground attack rushing for just under one hundred yards.

For M-E Ryan Brozovic was the offensive standout.  He was a solid kick returner and excelled on counters and sweeps.  It was difficult to gain any momentum against a stellar defensive effort from The Forks.  Two of the state's premier programs and coaches squared off.  It was the third ever meeting between M-E Head Coach Matt Gallagher and CV's Dave Hogan.  It was the first victory over Maine-Endwell for the Blue Devils under Hogan's tenure.
