Officials at SUNY Broome Community College say getting the main campus off Upper Front Street in the Town of Dickinson functioning again has been a big challenge.

Transformers 4 details

Classes at BCC were cancelled May 8 & 9 due to a main transformer failure on North College Drive.

While last word still didn’t have a reason for the failure, officials said New York State Electric and Gas was providing a portable substation that could be put online once some necessary parts arrived.

Officials said they were able to find a temporary transformer locally, but the connectors for the thing were not available and had to be shipped in.

The main transformer has been sent out to be fixed.

The power problems impacted the man Dickinson campus while the Student Village residence halls were okay and online classes and the satellite location in Owego all continued to operate normally.

Power was restored to the main campus by 9 p.m. May 9 through the temporary substation.

Not related to the power issues, however, the Hornets Run the Hill event planned for May 10 was called off due to threat of thunderstorms.
