State of Emergency Declared in Broome County
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar has declared a State of Emergency due to flooding.
Emergency Services officials have reported a number of streets and roads shut down due to flooding and evacuations were instituted at Kitner Trailer Park on Choconut Creek in Vestal Center.
Active water rescues were being reported to the south in Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania in Franklin Township and Franklin Forks.
The State of Emergency orders no recreational use of waterways and advises motorist not to drive on flooded roadways.
The Broome County Emergency Operations Center has been activated with New York State and Broome Highway divisions, Broome County Sheriff's Office, the American Red Cross and Broome Emergency Management departments reporting.
