Southern Tier Counties Schedule COVID-19 Booster Clinics
Several counties in the region are announcing the scheduling of booster clinics to get third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine into the elderly and other eligible residents.
Broome County Executive Jason Garnar says, in addition to the Pfizer booster shots, the County will be giving the single-dose Johnson and Johnson shots to younger residents at the clinics at the Broome County Health Department and later at each of the county senior centers.
After the first booster shot clinic filled up quickly last week, the next booster clinic was scheduled for October 5 at the Broome County Health Department but a check of the county vaccination site early on October 4 found all those appointments had also been taken. There are a dozen appointments available, however for October 5 for residents who have not gotten the COVID-19 vaccine to get the single-dose J&J shot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
A couple booster appointments were available still listed early on October 4 for the clinic at the Northern Broome Senior Center on Friday, October 8 along with the J&J. The next booster clinic is October 15 at the Eastern Broome Senior Center with the final booster clinic scheduled at the Broome West Senior Center on October 18. Again, the single-dose Johnson & Johnson shot will also be available for residents age 18 and up who have not been vaccinated yet. Make an appointment by going to gobroomecounty.com.
Chenango County is also having a booster clinic October 4 for those eligible at their clinic location from 1 to 4 p.m. in the South Plaza in Norwich. The health department says 400 appointments were available. Go to the Chenango County Health Department facebook page for more information or to register.
