Snow-Covered Roof Collapses at Endwell Lupo’s Outdoor Dining Area
The structure covering an outdoor dining area at Lupo's Char-Pit restaurant in Endwell collapsed under the weight of the record snowfall.
Business owner John Lupo said the roof gave way shortly after 6 p.m. Sunday. No one was in the dining area next to the East Main Street takeout restaurant at the time of the collapse.
Lupo said the front portion of the covering came down last Thursday morning during.the snowstorm. He said there were seven tables in the outdoor dining space, which opened 14 years ago.
The drive-in restaurant in Endwell has been in business since late 1966. Lupo said the place was closed for two days last week because of the massive storm. He said this is a busy period for the Char-Pit as former residents return to the area for the holidays and decide they "need a spiedie."
