My husband and I have taken full advantage of Binghamton's "Operation Clean Sweep" 2017 and it feels so amazing.

If you don't know what "Operation Clean Sweep," is, it's your opportunity to unload all of the junk that you've been hoarding at your house without having to pay for the City to haul it away. I love that we're able to put big pieces of broken furniture to the curb and don't have to buy a sticker to have it removed.

My husband and I definitely aren't hoarders, but we do have an awful habit of holding on to clothes that don't fit, whether they be too big or too small. At the last count, we had seven trash bags full of clothes to donate.

Parenthood has definitely changed both my body and my husband's. Jay used to be really lanky, but he's filled out some since we got married and our son was born. He isn't overweight by any means, but he's got some extra padding that wasn't there before. And you know what? It's okay and it happens to pretty much everyone.

Yes, the dad bod you've heard people talking about really is a real thing.

According to the University of Bath, men gain weight after getting married- it's just the way that it is.

Marriage and becoming a father are both factors in contributing to weight gain in men. So, how much extra weight does the average married man carry around? About three pounds more than his unmarried, fatherless friends.

Oh, and back to the Binghamton "Operation Clean Sweep," it's going on through this Friday, August 11th. If you've got things like refrigerators, washers, and dryers, you need to call 607-772-7020 to schedule a pickup. If you'd like to learn more about what is and what isn't allowed to be thrown away, call 607-772-7021.
