I think it's only fitting- in a Murphy's Law type of way- that this English major married a man who has awful grammar. I love my husband so much. So, so much. But, Jay's grammar (written, not spoken) makes me want to cry sometimes.

I fell in love with, and married Jay because of who he is as a person and lucky for him that my opinion of him wasn't skewed by his grammar because if he was single and if he was part of the online dating world, my sweet husband might still be living at home. With his parents.

Yet another survey has found that bad grammar is actually a real deal-breaker when it comes to online dating.

Zoosk conducted a survey of more than 9,000 people who use the service and found that proper punctuation and good spelling are attractive, while sloppy use of grammar and the over use of acronyms like 'LOL!' and 'OMG!' are a total turn-off.  How much of a turn-off? 72% of those surveyed said poor grammar was a definite turnoff.

47% of users said they'd "swipe left" someone they were interested used the term 'YOLO' in a message to them and. And get this, a unbelievable 93% of people noticed, and gave a thumbs-down, when a potential date left out punctuation altogether.

So, if you're dipping your toes into the world of online dating, you might want to have a friend or two double check your profile before you make it public.
