Police Investigate Threat Made by Chenango Forks School Student
Authorities in the Chenango Forks School District say they received a report about a threat made by a student.
According to a letter written by interim superintendent Grayson Stevens, officials on Saturday learned of a message sent via text from one middle school student to another.
Stevens said school resource officers and law enforcement officials were advised of the threat.
The message from Stevens provided no information about the nature of the threat or what specific action was taken to deal with the matter.
Stevens praised the student who reported the threat. He said children should be made aware that the can be "severe consequences" for such actions "even if the threat is made in jest."
It was not known what police agency investigated the threat or whether the student involved will be charged.
