Packaged Salads Recalled in NY and PA After Contaminated Product Killed at Least One Person

Unfortunately, at least one person has lost their life after eating a contaminated salad product and the issue is serious enough that a massive recall of packaged salad products has been issued.

Who Is Recalled Packaged Salads?

A massive recall has been issued by Fresh Express. The company is recalling not only its branded salad products but also its private label products. All of the recalled products were manufactured in the company's Streamwood, Illinois facility and in total, the recall involves over 200 packaged salad products.

Why Are the Packaged Salads Being Recalled?

The recall has been issued over concerns that the products could be contaminated with listeria.

Has Anyone Gotten Sick or Died From the Salad Recall?

Yes. Ten people became sick enough that they needed hospitalization and sadly, one person has died.

What Products Are Being Recalled?

Fresh Express is recalling over 200 products. The recall includes all Use-By Dates of fresh salad items with product codes Z324 through Z350.  You can find the product code on the package below the Use-By Date. If, after looking through the lengthy list below, you discover that you have one or more of the items being recalled, you are asked to immediately throw it away. Do not eat it, serve it, or sell it!
