New York State Electric and Gas officials says power won't be fully restored to customers in the Binghamton area until sometime this weekend.

As of Friday morning, the utility reported 8,218 customers were without electric service.

In Broome County, 4,153 customers were waiting for power to be restored. More than 1,000 of the affected customers were in the city of Binghamton.

In Tioga County, 2,313 customers were still without electricity. Most of those customers were in Apalachin.

The estimated power restoration times posted on NYSEG's website have repeatedly been adjusted as crews have encountered difficulty making repairs in some areas.

The utility now predicts most power in the region will be restored by 8 p.m. Saturday but no estimate is being offered for customers in some parts of Tioga County.
