Miley Cyrus, Dolce & Gabbana Co-Founder Feud Over Politics
Miley Cyrus stood up for her political beliefs against fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana in an Instagram post on Saturday (June 15). The "Malibu" singer shared a photo of her brother, Braison Cyrus, walking in a Gabbana show.
The caption reads: “Congrats @braisonccyrus on walking in your 1st runway show…. It’s never been my little brothers dream to be a model as HE is one of the most talented musicians my ears have ever been given the gift of hearing…. BUT it is a Cyrus family trait to try everything once (within reason HA) and to embrace opportunities that encourage you to step out of your comfort zone! We believe in trying something new everyday! I love you Prince Suga Bear and seriously congratulations on your experience! I am so proud of you always…. From Nashville to Italy! 👑❤️👑❤️👑❤️ PS D&G, I STRONGLY disagree with your politics.... but I do support your company's effort to celebrate young artists & give them the platform to shine their light for all to see!"
Miley could be referring to a number of viewpoints held byDolce & Gabbana's co-founders Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce. A few years ago, the openly gay designers stated their harsh opposition to gay adoption, saying, "The only family is the traditional one … No chemical offsprings and rented uterus; Life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.”
In recent months, they also dressed Melania Trump for high-profile events, which resulted in malcontent via Trump dissenters. Their response? Making “#boycottDolce&Gabbana” t-shirts.
Although Miley doesn't specifically pinpoint her issue with Dolce & Gabbana, her phrasing makes it clear she isn't on the brand's side.
And it appears that Gabbana is fine with this. His Instagram response post to Miley says, “We are Italian and we don’t care about politics and mostly neither about the American one! We make dresses and if you think about doing politics with a post it’s simply ignorant. We don’t need your posts or comments so next time please ignore us!! #boycottdolcegabbana 😂😂😂😂❤️”
