Man Charged with Attempted Murder in Stabbing of Vestal Woman

A Vestal woman was hospitalized in critical condition after she was repeatedly stabbed during a dispute with a man.

Police officers were sent to 205 Garden Lane in the Castle Gardens section of Vestal around 5:40 p.m. Sunday to investigate a reported domestic dispute.

When they arrived at the apartment house, they found the woman had sustained multiple stab wounds and other injuries.

The woman told officers the attacker was in a second-floor apartment. A man looked out an apartment door but ignored a directive to exit. Instead, he closed and locked the door.

Officers forcibly entered the apartment and took 31-year-old Zeke Wilmarth into custody. The Binghamton man has been charged with attempted murder.

The woman was being treated at a hospital. Her name was not released.
