Authorities say 20-year-old Davon Dozier-Gannaway was taken into custody by Binghamton police shortly after he ran away from the store on Gannett Drive.

According to Johnson City police, store workers confronted a suspected shoplifter. The man allegedly brandished a pair of scissors and threatened one employee. He then is said to have punched another worker in the face, causing an injury.

Investigators say the employee who was struck was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police cordoned off the entrance area to the store for a short time while officers assessed the situation.

Detectives say because Dozier-Gannaway previously had been banned from the business, he was in the store unlawfully.

Dozier-Gannway was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree robbery and second-degree burglary.
