Log Skidder Skids in Walton Church Parking Lot
No injuries are reported after a trailer with a log skidder on it detached from a truck as it missed a turn at Pines Brook Road in the Town of Walton and the heavy equipment tipped over in the parking lot of the Pines Brook Baptist Church.
Delaware County Sheriff’s Officials say the brakes on the vehicle owned by Springdale Construction of Walton apparently failed at 2:05 p.m. May 31 as 37 year old Joel Klinegardner of Sidney Center was towing the trailer and attempting to make the turn.
The truck hit a sign in front of the church and continued to travel down the road but the trailer detached and tipped over in the parking lot. The building was not damaged. The truck continued further down the road before hitting a tree and coming to a rest on the opposite side of the street.
Again, Klinegardner was not hurt.
Deputies say they expect vehicle and traffic law charges will be filed.
