Lights on the Lake in Syracuse Is Pure Holiday Magic [GALLERY]
A Central New York holiday tradition, Lights on the Lake in Liverpool/Syracuse is celebrating its 33rd year of delighting lovers of all things that dazzle with its two-mile Christmas lights drive-through display.
Just a short drive north on 81 toward Syracuse, less than an hour and a half away from Binghamton, is Onondaga Lake Park, and each year, people from near and far make the trip to take in the spectacular Christmas light display.
This light display is open each night through January 12, 2023. Prices range from $5.00 to $75.00 per vehicle depending on which night of the week you decide to visit Lights on the Lake and what sort of vehicle you're traveling in.
Year after year, Lights on the Lake is recognized as being the premier lights attraction in the Syracuse area and draws in roughly 40,000 vehicles each season. As you can imagine, a lights display of this magnitude draws quite a crowd, and organizers say that depending on the day and time that you want to drive through, the wait time could be an hour or two.
Organizers suggest to bring snacks and enjoy their special Christmas music channel while you wait. Some posters on the Lights on the River Facebook page mentioned that they either brought a Christmas movie to watch in their vehicle's DVD system or a tablet to watch a movie on.
Anyone wanting to check out Lights on the Lake must pre-select the date they wish to visit and purchase tickets in advance. Tickets will be valid for use anytime between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. on the date for which you purchase them. No tickets can be bought or exchanged for another time at the gate so keep that in mind when planning out your visit.
