Summertime is vacation time. For many years, my vacations have primarily centered around the campground. Since I invested what my wife would probably say, was too much money into a camper and all the stuff that goes with it, in the end, spending vacation time there is well worth the expense.

But on the other hand, it would be nice to get away once in a while like we used to, somewhere (anywhere) in the United States. Maybe on a quiet island in the middle of a lake.

Wait, I think I found just the place. It's called Whiskey Island Lodge and it's right here in beautiful New York State. According to the Private Islands Inc. website, this island is one of the oldest island cottages In New York's 1000 Islands with panorama views.

Whiskey Island was built originally in 1875 and includes eight bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, a commercial kitchen, renovated main lodge, a family room, a library/office, and several porches, both screened and open.

There are even other buildings on the side including a 2-bedroom guest cottage, 2 slip boathouses, docks, and a swim deck. Take a look below.
