We Need It! Southern Tier Agriculture Could Get A Boost From This
Everyone is struggling these days and I think one of the groups that have been hit the hardest is our farmers. You have to have a passion to be a farmer, it's a 24-hour, 7 days a week, 365 days a year job.
There's an old saying that I heard once, "Once in your life you need a preacher, a doctor, a lawyer, and a fireman but you need a farmer three times a day." Paul Harvey talks about how on the 8th day, God made a farmer.
It's worth two minutes of your time to listen to it.
Paul Harvey - So God Made A Farmer
As a youth, I spent many of my summers "hayin it" on a farm in Warren Center Pa. I have friends that have left the farming business and others that are thinking about it. So I was happy when I heard about this competition that could give our local agriculture a boost.
It's the "Why Grow-NY" competition for food and agriculture innovation. This is a competition that identifies, supports, and funds the top food, beverage, and agriculture innovations across the globe.
Grow-NY Competition
Here's a chance for our local agriculture to get the boost it needs because Grow-NY Region includes the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes, and Central NY. The Grow-NY competition will hand out $3 million dollars in total prize money to seven winners.
It includes a $1 million top prize, two $500,000 prizes and four $250,000 prizes. It'll also include mentorship, training, business development support, and tax incentives. This is such a wonderful opportunity for many of our farmers in our own backyard.
If you or someone you know is interested in being a part of this competition, go here for the details but don't delay because the applications close on July 1st.
