In recent tearjerking best friend news, Francia Raisa opened up about her road to recovery following the life-or-death kidney transplant she endured for gal pal Selena Gomez.

“It’s harder as the donor because we are losing something our body didn’t need to lose,” the Grown-ish actress told Harry Connick Jr. during an appearance on his daytime talk show, Harry.

As someone who describes themselves as "a very, very active person," Raisa explained that witnessing Gomez's fast recovery after she donated her kidney to the "Fetish" singer last September was a bittersweet sight at first — the operation would leave Raisa bedridden for months.

"My doctor said I couldn't move for two months," the 29-year-old star added. “I couldn’t do anything active. All I could do was walk. That was very hard for me, and I have a dog. Every day the thing I look forward to is drinking my coffee, and walking, and I couldn’t do that. It was really, really hard.”

In light of escalating health complications related to the Revival star's struggle with Lupus — which Gomez revealed for the first time publicly in 2015 — Raisa offered to go through with the life-saving surgery and donated her kidney to her best friend treat the chronic autoimmune disease.

Just months later, both ladies appeared to be in good health following the kidney transplant. The Secret Life of the American Teenager performer was anxious to hit the gym, and posted a workout video on Instagram to show her improvement. Gomez, on the other hand, signaled her redemption with a lively show at the 2017 American Music Awards in November.
