Kyle Wolf was inspired when he learned about the Black Panther Challenge when the idea was featured on a television program last month.

The Marvel movie features a black superhero. The production has generated plenty of excitement in recent months in anticipation of this weekend's opening of the film.

Wolf, who works with a student group known as The Squad, set a goal of $1,500 for the local challenge when he launched the online fundraising campaign. He described the support for the effort as "awesome."

Wolf said plans call for the Union-Endicott middle and high school students to attend a Wednesday morning screening of the movie at the AMC theaters in Vestal.
