Residents affected by recent flash flooding in the Vestal area have more time to dump flood debris into dumpsters in four neighborhoods.

Broome County Executive Jason Garnar has extended the State of Emergency for those areas and dumpsters are to remain until August 7.  The Taylor Garbage receptacles are located on Tharp Street, Richards Avenue, Grand Avenue and at Kintner Estates.

The tipping fees at the landfill, however, are no longer waived for homeowners.

The County says the dumpsters are for flood debris in the Vestal neighborhoods and the following items are not permitted: things containing Freon like dehumidifiers, freezers, refrigerators or air conditioners, white goods like stoves, washers and dryers, hazardous waste including paint, stains, varnish and pesticides, monitors, computer towers, printers or televisions. For information on what can and cannot be put in the dumpsters, call 778-2250.
