This video has been floating around for a while, but it's just too funny not to share with you again.

I might not have been born in New York, but I became a transplant in 1988 at the ripe old age of eight. I grew up just outside of Schenectady (ska-neck-tuh-dee) and Niskayuna (nisk-e-u-nah). I remember going to visit friends who lived in Schoharie (ska-hairy) and to get to Canajoharie (can-ah-joe-hairy), we had to jump on the thruway and pay a toll.

Growing up surrounded by towns with names such as those and then moving to Binghamton where I learned a whole new set of hard to pronounce town names such as Canandaigua and Skaneateles gave me a bit of an advantage against my co-worker who was born and raised in Philadelphia before coming to New York as an adult. It's so much harder to learn pronunciations as an adult, don't you think?

So, what happens when an out-of-towner tries to pronounce some of our upstate New York town names? Hilarity. Hilarity is what happens!

I know there are tons of other town names that didn't make the list, but we only had so much time. And you know what that means, right? We'll have to create a part two!
