The National Weather Service has a Flood Watch in effect for Delaware and Sullivan Counties in Central New York and Wayne County in Pennsylvania through 7 p.m. January 23 with a potential of quick rises in water levels in smaller tributaries and possible flooding.

Officials say a quick increase in water levels can cause ice to move and additional ice jams form.

In addition, the NOAA office in Binghamton has issued a flood advisory for small stream and urban flooding in southeastern Broome in the Southern Tier and southern Delaware County in Central New York.  The advisory is also in effect in northeastern, Pennsylvania in Susquehanna and Wayne Counties.
