Today, we're excited to introduce you to David Ackley of Newark Valley. Jessica Ackley, David's wife nominated David to become a member of our First Responders Wall of Fame writing the following to us:
Dave (my husband) has been in the Newark Valley Fire Department (NVFD) for 16+ years. He has moved up through the ranks from lieutenant, to captain, and now serves as one of the Chiefs. He works full time for Tioga County, but volunteers much of his extra time at the NVFD, training, recruiting, volunteering for community events, saving lives and preserving property. He runs out the door on holidays to pull people safely from car crashes, into blizzard conditions to put out house fires and volunteers at local schools to teach fire prevention. He is an amazing father, husband, son, friend and Fire Chief, trying to inspire the love for volunteer service in others. He is an incredible role model for his children and aspiring firefighters, and he makes us all so proud every day with his compassion, skills, and devotion to his community!!!
Our community is a better place because you, David, are in it and we salute you and genuinely thank you for being the incredible human that you are!
