Endicott Police Officers Act Fast to Douse House Fire
A post on social media is praising three Endicott Police officers for acting quickly to put out a fire at a house before the flames could spread past the porch.
According to the account on the Endicott Police facebook page, at around 1:45 a.m. May 22, Officers Carmella Ciacelli, Crystal Kim and Catherine Bracken were on patrol when Officer Ciacelli was flagged down by a resident on Murphy Avenue reporting the fire on a neighbor’s porch.
Officer Ciacelli used a fire extinguisher to blast the flames. Ciacelli woke and evacuated the residents as Officers Kim and Bracken arrived on the scene.
Officer Kim grabbed a fire extinguisher from her patrol car on the blaze that was now reaching the porch roof. She and Officer Ciacelli grabbed a garden hose to knock down the flames until firefighters could arrive. The fast actions kept the fire from reaching the gas meter for the home a few feet away.
There apparently were no injuries. There’s no word on what caused the fire.
