Don’t Throw it Out – That May Be Your Stimulus
Many Americans have received their second stimulus, but for some still looking for it you may have mistakenly thrown it away. There are a few things you need to look for even if your last payment was through direct deposit. I know we can all use that extra money that is coming from the federal government so it is important to know what to look for in your mailbox. Many people are making the mistake of thinking the checks and debit cards are a scam and not a stimulus payment.
According to News 10 ABC, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) continues to tell Americans to look through their mail carefully for their stimulus checks. They come in a plain white envelope and many people are still throwing them away because they think they are junk mail.
Some people almost threw them away because the white envelope had clear plastic over the address and the seal along with the address in the upper left corner didn't look like a familiar seal. This was the envelope that contained their check but it didn't look government issued.
Plus there are some people that got their first COVID stimulus through direct deposit so they didn't expect to get the second in the mail and it came in the white envelope. You are urged to open all mail and double-check. Some of the envelopes contain government pre-paid debit cards. This was done to expedite payments.
Please check all mail for your stimulus check or pre-paid debit card. It will come in a plain white envelope with the U.S. Department of the Treasury seal. If you want to track your payment or get more information on the pre-paid debit cards, click HERE.
