Access to homes and businesses on the East Side of Binghamton is restricted because of a major road reconstruction project.

A six-block section of Robinson Street between Broad and Brandywine avenues is closed as work continues.

Detour signs direct motorists to Court Street to avoid the project zone. Cortese Restaurant and the Weis Markets store are in this summer's construction zone.

Work to build Robinson Street began last year with repaving, along with the installation of new curbs and sidewalks between Bigelow Street and Garden Avenue.

The final phase of the Robinson Street reconstruction project is scheduled for next year.
