City Councilman Earns Binghamton University Degree
A 21-year-old member of city council has earned a bachelor's degree in political science at Binghamton University.
Conrad Taylor was a December graduate, although he won't participate in a commencement ceremony until May.
Taylor was a freshman when he became the youngest person elected to office in Broome County. He won the Fourth District city council seat in November 2015.
Now that he's graduated, Taylor said he is focusing on getting a job. The New York City native said he intends to remain in Binghamton.
Taylor said helping constituents as a member of city council is an "incredibly rewarding experience."
After serving two years on council, Taylor on Tuesday said it's too early to discuss whether he'll choose to seek another term.
Taylor now estimates there are between 7,000 and 8,000 Binghamton University graduate and undergraduate students now living in the city. He said he believes it's important for the community to make them feel welcome and to encourage them to stay in the area.
