Cher’s Life Story Is About to Become a Broadway Show
Cher is about to turn back time for all to see.
The Cher Show, a musical based on the life of the Oscar-winning actress and singer, is going to Broadway, Entertainment Tonight reports. The news is confirmation of what Cher herself had previously teased.
The show will open in Chicago for a brief run June 2018 before landing on the Great White Way in the fall.
"My life as a musical on Broadway. It seems crazy, exciting and bizarre—but that's probably how my life seems to most people," Cher, 71, said in a statement.
Three actresses are expected to portray Cher at various points in her life, while several of her hit songs will be featured.
The Cher Story is merely the latest high-profile production to go to Broadway next year. Pretty Woman: The Musical, based on the hit 1990 movie, is also expected to open, as are shows based on well-known properties like Frozen, Mean Girls and Harry Potter.
