Charges Added in Domestic, Drugs and Gun Incidents in Town of Union

A Town of Union man arrested by the Special Investigations Unit Task Force on drug and weapons counts is facing additional charges in connection with the domestic incident that drew police to the Westover area Feburary 28.

The Broome County Sheriff’s office says 37-year-old Kawon Imes is accused of pointing a handgun at his girlfriend and threatening to kill her while children were present at a Camden Street home and was charged on March 1 in that incident.

Authorities say Imes left that home before police arrived and they later found him at a home on Grand Avenue, where he was arrested.

Officials say they found the handgun believed involved in the Camden Street incident and the weapon was not registered to Imes.

Investigators say Imes is charged with felony criminal possession of a firearm and criminal use of a fire arm as well as felony reckless endangerment and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

He and Shanta Rahmee were charged a total of 27 counts, 23 of them felony charges when officers say they found drugs and the loaded handgun at the Grand Avenue address.
